Rich Chocolate Caramel Brownies
- 1 pkg. devil's food or chocolate cake mix
- 1 c. chopped nuts
- 1/2 c. butter or margarine, melted
- 1 c. undiluted Carnation evaporated milk, divided
- 35 light caramels, unwrapped (10 oz.)
- 1 c. semi-sweet chocolate morsels (6 oz.)
- In large bowl, combine cake mix and nuts; stir in butter. Stir in 2/3 cup evaporated milk (batter will be thick).
- Spread half of batter into greased 13 x 9 x 2-inch baking pan.
- Bake in preheated 350u0b0 oven for 15 minutes.
- In small saucepan, combine caramels and remaining 1/3 cup evaporated milk.
- Stir over low heat until caramels are melted.
- Sprinkle chocolate morsels over baked layer; drizzle caramel mixture over top.
- Drop remaining batter by heaping teaspoonfuls over caramel mixture.
- Return to 350u0b0 oven for 20 to 25 minutes (top will be soft).
- Cool completely before cutting into bars.
