California Pork Bbq Burgers With Coleslaw
- BBQ Burger Balm:
- 1/2 cup molasses
- 1/3 cup apple cider vinegar
- 1/4 cup spicy brown mustard
- 2 garlic cloves, minced
- 1/4 teaspoon cayenne
- Salt and freshly ground black pepper
- Coleslaw:
- 3 cups finely shredded green cabbage
- 1/2 cup julienned red and or green pepper
- 2 green onions, chopped
- 2 tablespoons mayo
- 2 tablespoons white wine
- 1 tablespoon sugar
- Salt and pepper as desired
- Burgers:
- 1 1/2 pounds ground pork
- 1/2 teaspoon cayenne
- 1/2 teaspoon red pepper
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
- 1/8 teaspoon five spice powder (surprise surprise!)
- 1/4 cup finely chopped red onion
- 4 buns
- 1. For Burger Balm, mix all associated ingredients, set aside.
- 2. For cole slaw, toss cabbage, pepper and onions. Mix mayo, wine and remaining ingredients and add to cabbage. Reserve in refrigerator.
- 3. For burgers, mix pork, dry spices and 1/4 cup Burger Balm. Divide mixture into 4 portions.
- 4. Grill on direct, medium heat for 10-12 minutes, turning once half way. During grilling time, put buns on the grill to toast maybe 2-3 minutes.
- 5. Place a burger on the bottom half of each roll, spoon on some cole slaw, a bit more Burger Balm and the roll tops.
