Boston Brown Bread

  1. Sift all-purpose flour with baking powder, soda and salt. Stir in graham flour and walnuts.
  2. Beat egg lightly; beat in brown sugar, molasses, buttermilk and shortening.
  3. Stir into dry mixture, just until all of the flour is moistened.
  4. Spoon into 3 greased 1-pound size cans or 3 small loaf pans.
  5. Bake at 350u0b0 for 45 minutes, or until bread tests done.
  6. Let stand for 10 minutes. Turn out onto wire racks.
  7. Serve warm or cold.
