Spiced Apple Revel Loaf

  1. Peel apple rings; mash with a fork.
  2. Add brown sugar, the cinnamon (1/4 teaspoon), nutmeg and ginger.
  3. Set aside.
  4. In a large mixer bowl, cream butter and granulated sugar.
  5. Add eggs and vanilla; beat well.
  6. Thoroughly stir together the flour, baking powder, salt and 1 teaspoon cinnamon.
  7. Add alternately to creamed mixture with milk.
  8. Stir in walnuts.
  9. Spread one-third of the batter into greased and floured 9 x 5 x 3-inch loaf pan.
  10. Drop one-third of the apple mixture by tablespoons onto batter.
  11. Repeat layers to make 3 layers of each, ending with apple mixture.
  12. Bake in 350u0b0 oven for 1 hour.
  13. Cool on rack.
  14. Makes 1 loaf.
