Strawberry Dessert

  1. Break up cake to cover bottom of 9 x 13-inch pan.
  2. Dissolve jello in water; add frozen berries, partially set.
  3. Pour over cake.
  4. Chill until firm.
  5. In double broiler, cook egg yolks, sugar and milk until slightly thick; soften gelatin in cold water.
  6. Add to egg yolk mixture.
  7. Let cool.
  8. Fold whipped topping and stiffly beaten egg whites into the cooled egg yolk mixture.
  9. Add vanilla and salt.
  10. Spread over berry mixture.
  11. Chill until set.
