Strawberry Dessert
- 1/2 large angel food cake
- 2 boxes strawberry jello
- 1 box frozen strawberries
- 2 c. boiling water
- 3 eggs
- 3/4 c. sugar
- 1 pt. milk
- 1 c. whipped topping
- 1 tsp. vanilla
- dash of salt
- 1 pkg. unflavored gelatin
- 1/4 c. cold water
- Break up cake to cover bottom of 9 x 13-inch pan.
- Dissolve jello in water; add frozen berries, partially set.
- Pour over cake.
- Chill until firm.
- In double broiler, cook egg yolks, sugar and milk until slightly thick; soften gelatin in cold water.
- Add to egg yolk mixture.
- Let cool.
- Fold whipped topping and stiffly beaten egg whites into the cooled egg yolk mixture.
- Add vanilla and salt.
- Spread over berry mixture.
- Chill until set.
