The Best Brownies

  1. 1. Combine dry ingredients in a large bowl with a fork
  2. 2. Add eggs, butter or oil, vanilla and coffee and mix
  3. 3. Add finely chopped chocolate, butterscotch and nuts, mix well.
  4. 4. Bake for 30-35 minutes in a pre-heated oven at 325 degrees.
  5. 5. Remove when a knife inserted in the middle of the pan comes up clean
  6. 6. Allow 5 minutes to cool
  7. 7. Cut 4 evenly-spaced rows in the brownies, and 6 lengthwise.
  8. 8. Remove brownies carefully with a spatula
  9. 9. Serve

  11. This brownie recipe works fine on its own. It will be loved by kids and adults alike. However, it can be served for a kids' party for example with a basic chocolate mocha frosting (see below), or at a dinner party with vanilla iced cream, berries, and/or whipped cream.

  13. Mix 1 tsp. vanilla extract, 4 c. confectioner's sugar, 1/2 c. espresso coffee, 1/3 c. cocoa, 3 tbsp. melted dark chocolate, 7 tbsp. butter (at room temp.) in an electric mixer. Refrigerate until firm, spread over individual brownies.
