East End Bars
- First layer:
- 1/2 cup butter
- 1 ounce unsweetened baking chocolate
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- 1/4 cup sugar
- 2 cups graham cracker crumbs
- 1 egg, well-beaten
- 1 cup coconut
- 1/2 cup nuts
- Second layer:
- 2 cups confectioners sugar
- 1/4 cup butter
- 1 tablespoon cream or milk
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- Topping:
- 1.5 ounces unsweetened chocolate
- (For a 9"x13" pan, increase the recipe by half.)
- For the first layer, melt butter and chocolate. Stir in the remainder of ingredients. Press into an 8"x8" pan and refrigerate.
- For the second layer, mix all ingredients. Put over first layer and refrigerate.
- For the topping, melt chocolate and pour over second layer.
