Orange French Toast
- 2 c. fresh orange juice
- 2 c. half and half
- 6 eggs, beaten
- 1/4 c. powdered sugar
- 2 Tbsp. Grand Marnier liqueur
- 1 tsp. vanilla
- 1 tsp. orange extract
- 2 (1 lb.) loaves day old French bread
- 1/2 c. unsalted butter
- Preheat oven to 325u0b0.
- Mix together first seven ingredients. Pour into large shallow dish.
- Cut bread diagonally into 1-inch slices.
- Soak bread 1 minute on each side.
- Brown the slices in butter over medium-low heat in a large skillet.
- When all are browned, place on cookie sheet (in single layer) and bake 20 minutes.
- Remove from oven; sift powdered sugar over toast.
- Serve with heated maple syrup.
- Crisp, not soggy, perfect for a large group since it's all ready at the same time.
