Gram Sander'S Banana Bread
- 3 1/2 c flour
- 3 tsp. baking powder
- 1 tsp. baking soda
- 1 tsp. salt
- 3/4 c shortening or softened butter
- 1 1/2 c sugar
- 3 eggs
- 3/4 c milk
- 1 1/2 tsp. vanilla
- 2 c very ripe bananas, mashed and mixed with
- 2 Tbl. lemon juice
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Grease two regular loaf pans.
- Combine flour, baking powder, salt, and baking soda in large bowl. Cream butter or shortening with sugar. Add eggs, one at a time then add milk and vanilla. Stir in bananas. Add banana mixture to flour mixture and mix just to combine.
- Divide batter evenly between loaf pans and bake for 1 hour or until tester inserted into center of loaf comes out with a few moist crumbs.
- Cool, slice, and serve with butter.
