Stella'S Flapper Pie

  1. Mix topping together and bake for 8 minutes at 375 F
  2. Filling
  3. Add sugar, salt, cornstartch and flour. Gradually stir in milk until mixture is smooth. Cook over medium heat stirring constantly until it boils (about 2 minutes). Remove from heat and stir in a little hot mixture into the egg yolks then add yolks to mixture. Boil mixture for 1 minute, add butter and vanilla. Cool for 10 minutes.
  4. Meringue
  5. Beat 2 egg whites stiff. Add a pinch of salt while beating. Gradually add 1/4 cup sugar. Beat until stiff and glossy. Spread over pie. Sprinkle crumbs over top. Bake at 425 F for 5 minutes
