Putnam Pumpkin Chocolate Cake
- 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 2 tbsn. unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1 tablespoons pumpkin pie spice (cinnamon & cloves 1/2 tspn. each)
- 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
- 1 3/4 cups white sugar
- 1/2 cup butter
- 1/2 cup canola oil
- 2 eggs, beaten
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- 1/2 cup sour milk (add 1 tspn. lemon and let sit 5 min)
- 2 cups pumpkin
- 1/4 cup chocolate chips
- Mix all dry ingredients together set aside, cream butter, oil and sugar, add eggs and vanilla (liquid or the packet type) and sour milk add pumpkin and then add the dry ingredients, mix well and spoon batter into a greased and floured 9 x 12 x 2 inch pan, (You can also use: a large fluted springform pan, or Bundt pan) Bake at 325.F/165.C until toothpick comes out clean - approx. 40-45 minutes.
