Jennifer'S Best Toffee
- 2 cup Butter
- 2 cup White Sugar
- 1/4tsp Salt
- 2 cup Semi Sweet Choc Chips
- 1 cup Finely Chopped Almonds
- In a large heavy bottomed saucepan, combine the butter, sugar and salt.
- Cook over medium heat, stirring until butter is melted. Allow to come to a boil and cook until the mixture becomes a dark amber color and the temp is 285 degrees.
- While the toffee is cooking cover a large baking sheet with foil or parchment.
- A soon as the toffee reaches the proper temp, pour it out onto the baking sheet.
- Sprinkle Choc Chips over the top and let set for a minute.
- Spread the chocolate into a thin layer once it has melted.
- Sprinkle the nuts over the chocolate if preferred.
- Place the toffee in the refrigerator to set.
- Break into small pieces and store in air tight container.
