Pop-Pop'S Outstanding Baked Beans

  1. Place beans in a 3-quart casserole (round, oblong, glass or disposable aluminum, whatever, just as long as it's ovenproof). Cook bacon slices in frying pan until crisp.
  2. Drain on paper towels. Break into nice size bits and pieces.
  3. Discard 1/2 the bacon drippings.
  4. Pour remaining drippings into the casserole. Add the rest of the ingredients.
  5. Stir until blended with a wooden spoon.
  6. Bake, uncovered, 30 to 45 minutes, until it's heated through. If you like a nice crust over the beans, don't stir them. If you like your beans without a crust, stir them once or twice during cooking time.
