Best Bread Pudding
- 2 loaves French Bread - cut into chunks - day old
- 6 cups whole Milk
- 3/4 pounds butter
- 5 eggs
- 2 cups sugar
- 1/2 cup vanilla extract (real stuff)
- 3/4 cup golden raisins
- Cinnamon
- Hard sauce
- 2 C cream
- 1/4 butter
- 1/4 cup confection sugar
- 1 egg yolks
- 3/4 cup sugar
- 1/4 cup bourbon
- Heat milk with butter until butter is melted
- Combine with a whisk eggs, sugar vanilla
- Add the hot milk/butter mixture
- Pour over bread and add raisins
- Let soak for 10 minutes
- Transfer to a buttered glass baking dish
- Dot with butter and sprinkle with cinnamon
- Bake in a water bath at 350F for 40-45 minutes
- Should be just firm but not dry.
- Hard Sauce
- Heat cream with butter
- Add confection sugar
- In a separate bowl whisk egg yolk
- Drissle in hot milk - pour back into sauce pan
- add bourbon and low heat
