Challah (Bread Maker)
- 1/4 Cup Warm Water
- 2 1/4 Tsp yeast for bread machines
- 3/4 cup Milk
- 1/8 cup Sugar
- 1 1/2 tsp salt
- 6 tblsp. Butter (cut up at room temp)
- 2 beaten eggs (reserve 1 tablespoon
- 4 cups bread flour
- poppy seeds to cover (can use sesame as well)
- 1. Stir the yeast into the water and set aside.
- 2. Place the milk, sugar, salt, butter, and eggs into breadmaker.
- 3. Place the yeast on top.
- 4. Put Breadmaker on dough setting.
- 5. WHen done, punch down and separate into three balls of equal size.
- 6. Roll into ropes less than 2" thick.
- 7. On buttered cookie sheet pinch together ends and braid. Tuck ends under.
- 8. baste top with the reserved egg and sprikle seeds.
- 9. Bake at 350 for 25-30 minutes.
