Baked Ziti And Cheese
- 1 c. sliced mushrooms
- 1 c. green pepper slices, cut in 2-inch lengths
- 1/3 c. chopped onion
- 1/2 c. butter
- 1/3 c. unsifted flour
- 2 1/4 c. milk
- 2 c. shredded Cheddar cheese
- 1/2 c. grated Parmesan or Romano cheese
- 1/2 tsp. salt
- 1/2 tsp. pepper
- 1 1/2 pkg. (8 oz.) cut ziti
- 1/2 lb. sweet Italian sausage
- Bake sausage for 30 minutes at 350u0b0; cool.
- Slice in thin pieces.
- Saute mushrooms, green pepper and onion in butter until tender.
- Remove vegetables.
- Blend flour into butter; stir in milk.
- Cook and stir constantly until mixture begins to boil. Boil and stir 1 minute.
- Add 1 1/2 cups Cheddar cheese, Parmesan or Romano cheese, salt and pepper.
- Stir until cheese is melted and mixture is smooth.
- Set aside and keep warm.
