Apple Craison Pie

  1. The filling below can be made up to 2 days prior to baking, refrigerated in a large plastic bag.
  2. 1. Mix cranberries, raisons, and sugar together in a large bowl, covering the berries with sugar.
  3. 2. Add flour, all spice, cloves, and cinnamon to bowl and mix.
  4. 3. Add sliced apples to bowl, mix well.
  5. 4. Add brandy and vanilla extract, mix well. If storing for future use, place filling into a large storage bag.
  6. 5. This recipe requires 2-9" pie crusts. Either prepare fresh or use store bought crusts.
  7. 6. Pre-heat oven to 350 degrees.
  8. 7. Place one crust on bottom of pie pan.
  9. 8. Fill the crust in the pan with the filling, slightly heaping over the height of the pan.
  10. 9. Put second pie crust over the filling, pinching top and bottom crusts together at the edges.
  11. 10. Beat together whipping cream and egg yolk in a small bowl. Brush mixture over top crust including edges.
  12. 11. Bake pie at 350 degrees for 1 hour. Remove from oven after 1 hour and allow to cool to just over room temperature to serve.
