Viennese Walnut Crescents
- 1/2 cup powdered sugar
- 1 vanilla bean, split and scraped
- 10 TBLS (2 sticks less 2 TBL) butter
- 1/3 cup white sugar
- 1/3 cup light brown sugar
- 1 egg white
- 2 T walnut oil
- 1 tsp vanilla
- 2 cups flour
- 1 cup finely ground walnuts
- 1/8 tsp salt
- preheat oven to 350.
- combine vanilla bean with 1/2 cup powdered sugar in an airtight container. let sit for 24 hours.
- cream butter, sugars till fluffy. beat egg white, walnut oil, vanilla. add to butter mixture.
- combine flour, walnuts, salt. add to butter mixture.
- Place in ziploc bag. cut off corner and pipe crescents onto baking sheet.
- bake for 10-15 minutes.
- dust with vanilla powdered sugar.
