Beef Gumbo Soup

  1. Cut beef in small pieces and brown in oil.
  2. Add salt and 2 quarts water and onion.
  3. Simmer for 2 1/2 hours.
  4. Add carrots, potatoes, celery and garlic powder.
  5. Cook 30 minutes longer.
  6. Add tomatoes, beans, lima beans, corn and cabbage.
  7. Simmer until vegetables are tender.
  8. Add okra and heat.
