Double-Chocolate Walnut Brownies
- 1 c. (2 sticks) butter or margarine
- 4 sq. unsweetened chocolate
- 2 c. sugar
- 3 eggs
- 1 tsp. vanilla
- 1 c. flour
- 1 1/2 c. chopped walnuts (optional)
- 1 (6 oz.) pkg. semi-sweet chocolate pieces
- Bake at 350u0b0 for 35 minutes; makes about 2 dozen.
- Melt butter and chocolate in medium saucepan over moderate heat (may also be melted in microwave oven).
- Remove from heat.
- Mix in sugar; add eggs, one at a time.
- Stir in vanilla.
- Stir in flour.
- Stir in one cup of walnuts.
- Spread into a greased 13 x 9 x 2-inch pan. Mix rest of walnuts and chocolate pieces and sprinkle over top of brownie mixture, pressing down lightly.
- Bake at 350u0b0 for 35 minutes or until top springs back when pressed with fingertip. Cook completely in pan.
- Cut into bars.
