Cherry-Almond Bread

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
  2. In a large bowl, cream sugar, butter and eggs until fluffy.
  3. In a separate bowl, sift together flour, baking soda and salt.
  4. Blend into creamed mixture with buttermilk.
  5. Stir in almonds, cherries and almond extract.
  6. Pour batter into a greased and floured 9 x 5 x 3 in. loaf pan and bake 55 to 60 minutes, testing for doneness with a toothpick.
  7. Remove from pan and cool on a wire rack.
  8. Yields:
  9. 1 loaf of bread.
