Uncle John'S London Broil
- 1-2 lb London Broil (if not available, top round or flank;
- 1 Cup medium viscosity cooking oil (veggie, corn or canola is fine;
- 1/2 cup each--soy sauce, red wine, white wine vinegars;
- 2 tbls jarred garlic;
- 2 large bayleaves; and,
- 1/2 tsp kosher salt
- (optional).
- *Low sodium OK but do not change the quantity as will distort the dilution of the liquids
- mix all ingredients and pour over meat in flat NON-METALLIC baking dish (a thick kitchen storage bag sealed air tight also works provided it lays flat). Allow to marinate in fridge minimum of 6 hours (preferrably, overnight). Turn meat over midway through marinading period.
- Set in room temperature at least one hour prior to cooking. (reserve marinade for basting to control doneness of meat surface). Best served Medium to Med-Rare so cook on medium heat grill 6-8 minutes per side TURNING ONLY ONCE WITH TONGS.
- Remove meat from grill and allow to stand 5-10 minutes. Slice across the grain diagonally.
