Mom'S Butter Cookies With Icing
- Cookies
- 1 cup soft margarine or butter
- 1/3 cup powdered sugar
- 3/4 cup corn starch
- 1 cup flour
- Icing
- 1/2 cup stick butter
- 1-2 cups powdered sugar
- 1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla
- 2-4 tablespoons water
- Combine powdered sugar, corn starch and flour then fold in butter with a fork and mix well.
- Divide dough into two or three equal parts and roll into cylinders using wax paper. Refrigerate overnight. Slice each cylinder into 1/4 slices then bake on an ungreased cookie sheet for 12-15 minutes at 325. Let cook for a minute or two before removing from pan.
- For icing, melt butter in a saucepan. Stir in vanilla and powdered sugar until desired consistency. Add water, 1 tablespoon at a time, and mix until smooth and of desired consistency (a thick syrup).
