Omi'S German Chocolate Cake
- 2 cups Flour, unsifted, all-purpose
- 2 cups Sugar
- 1 teaspoon Baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon Baking powder
- 2/3 cup Butter
- 1 cup Buttermilk
- 1 teaspoon Vanilla
- 4 Egg yolks
- 4 ounce Bakers German's Brand Sweet Chocolate OR Semi-Sweet Chocolate Chips
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 4 Egg Whites, Stiffly beaten
- Oven at 350u0b0F.
- Melt chocolate in boiling water, cool.
- Cream butter and sugar until fluffy.
- Beat in egg yolks, adding one at a time, beating well after each
- Blend in vanilla and chocolate.
- Mix flour, soda, and salt. (and baking powder)
- Beat flour mixture into chocolate, alternating with buttermilk.
- Beat egg whites until stiff peaks form; fold into batter.
- pour into three 9 inch layer pans. Bake at 350 for 30-35 minutes. Cool. Front tops and sides.
