Chocolate Tangerine Squares

  1. Preheat oven to 350u0b0. In a large bowl, cream the butter with 1/2 c. powdered sugar until fluffy. Beat in 2 cups of the flour, the zest, and the salt. Spread evenly over the bottom of a well-greased 13X9-inch baking dish. Bake for 20 minutes or until light brown and dry.
  2. Meanwhile, beat the eggs until light and foamy. Gradually add the granulated sugar, beating until thick and blended. Beat in the tangerine juice, remaining 1/3 c. flour, and baking powder.
  3. Remove crust from oven and immediately sprinkle with the chopped chocolate. Evenly spread over the crust as it melts using an offset spatula.
  4. Pour tangerine mixture over the chocolate, being careful not to mix. Put back in the oven and bake for 35-30 min. until golden and custard has set.
  5. Remove from oven and immediately dust with the powdered sugar. Let cool and dust again. Cut into squares or bars. Makes about 20.
