Chocolate Bavarian Pie
- 9-inch baked pastry shell or crumb crust
- 1 envelope unflavored gelatin
- 1 c. milk
- 2/3 c. sugar
- 1/3 c. Hershey's cocoa
- 2 Tbsp. butter or margarine
- 2/3 c. milk
- 3/4 tsp. vanilla
- 1/2 c. heavy cream
- Strawberry Whipped Cream
- Prepare pie shell; cool.
- Sprinkle gelatin onto 1 cup of milk in a medium saucepan; allow to stand for 2 minutes.
- Combine sugar and cocoa; add to mixture in saucepan.
- Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly, until mixture boils.
- Remove from heat; add butter and stir until melted.
- Blend in 2/3 cup milk and vanilla. Cool; chill until mixture begins to set, stirring occasionally. Whip the cream until stiff peaks form; carefully fold into chocolate mixture, blending well.
- Pour into pie shell; chill until set.
- Prepare Strawberry Whipped Cream.
- Pipe in a decorative design and top with reserved frozen or fresh strawberries.
