Chocolate Chip Cookies - April Walcher
- 1/4 c. butter, softened
- 1/4 c. crisco shortening
- 3/4 c. firmly packed brown sugar
- 1/2 c. sugar
- 1/2 tsp. vanilla
- 1 tsp. baking soda
- 1 tsp. salt
- 1 egg
- 1 3/4 c. flour
- 6 oz. chocolate chips
- Preheat oven to 375 degrees. Beat the butter, shortening and sugars until fluffy. Add vanilla, baking soda and salt, mixing well after each addition. Add the egg and beat until well incorporated. Add flour 1/2 cup or so at a time while mixing. Add chocolate chips.
- Roll into balls about 1 1/2 to 2 inches in diameter and place 2 to 3 inches apart on an ungreased cookie sheet. Bake 8 to 10 miutes until slightly browned. Let cool on the cookie sheet about 2 minutes, then remove to wire rack or paper towels to cool completely before storing them in an airtight container.
