Cocoa Brownie Cookies
- 1/3 c. Hershey's cocoa powder
- 1/4 tsp. baking soda
- 1/2 tsp. salt
- 1 1/2 c. all-purpose flour
- 2/3 c. shortening
- 1 tsp. vanilla
- 1 Tbsp. water
- 2 eggs
- 1 1/2 c. light brown sugar, firmly packed
- 2 c. semi-sweet chocolate chips (12 oz.)
- 1 c. pecans or walnut pieces
- Cream shortening, light brown sugar, water and vanilla in a large mixing bowl.
- Blend until creamy and blend in eggs.
- Add flour, cocoa, baking soda and salt.
- Mix until blended.
- Stir in chocolate chips and nuts.
- Drop rounded measuring tablespoonfuls, 2-inches apart onto ungreased baking sheet.
- Bake at 375u0b0 for 7 to 9 minutes or until cookies are set.
- Cool on baking sheet for 2 minutes before removing.
- Makes 2 1/2 to 3 dozen.
