Mom'S Favorite Spareribs

  1. Bring 3/4 cup of vinegar and water to a boil; add ribs.
  2. Cook 10 minutes.
  3. Drain and discard water.
  4. Cut ribs apart into serving pieces.
  5. Put cornstarch in large bowl; add soy sauce and garlic. Mix well.
  6. Turn ribs over and over to coat all pieces.
  7. Let stand 1/2 hour.
  8. Heat oil in a large pot.
  9. Add marinated ribs; brown slowly and thoroughly.
  10. Remove from skillet. Pour pineapple syrup, remaining 1/4 cup of vinegar and sugar into skillet.
  11. Stir and cook 1 minute.
  12. Add ribs.
  13. Simmer 40 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  14. Stir in cornstarch mixture left from marinating ribs, pineapple chunks and green bell pepper.
  15. Cook over high heat for 2 minutes, stirring frequently.
  16. Serve with hot rice and enjoy!
