Towner Texas Turkey Chili

  1. Charbroil or Grill ear of corn (on open gas flame or gas grill until charred around 8 minutes). At the same time, mix all dry herbs together in a small bowl. Chop the onion, poblano and garlic keeping garlic separate.
  2. Heat a bit of olive oil in a large pot over medium heat. Add the onion and poblano pepper and cook, stirring occasionally, until softened. Add the garlic and saute until aromatic. Add the dry herb mixture; stir and allow to cook 1 minute. Add the ground turkey and cook, breaking up with a spoon, until lightly browned. Pour in the beer and allow to cook down slightly. Cut up the ear of corn and add with the tomatoes, beans, tomato paste, water and cilantro stems . Season with salt and pepper. Allow to simmer, uncovered, until thickened, about an hour.
  3. Let get to room temperature on the stove covered. Chill for at least 4 hrs, preferably overnight. Before reheating add jalapeno to taste and corn.
  4. Top with sour cream, chopped chives, cilantro leaves, and/or shredded cheese.
