Rustic Italian Bread
- 3 -- 3 1/2 cups Bread Flour
- 1/2 teaspoon Salt
- 1 cup Warm Water 115 degrees
- 2 splash Cooking Spray I prefer olive oil spray
- 1 Egg White beaten
- 2 teaspoons Sugar
- 1 packet Yeast {1 packet or 2 1/4 tsp from jar
- 2 tablespoons Olive Oil
- 1 tablespoon Corn Meal
- 1. Stir flour, sugar and yeast in a large bowl. Mix Well. Add warm water and oil. Mix well. Knead on low speed for 10 minutes, add flour as needed.
- 2. Coat a large bowl with spray. Place dough in the bowlroll it around to coat all of it with the oil. Cover loosely with plastic wrap. Let rise in a warm spot for 30 -45 minutes. till doubled in size
- 3. Sprinkle baking sheet with cornmeal. Punch down the dough. Shape into an oval loaf about 12 inches long,
- 4. Place on a baking sheet, cover loosely with greased plastic wrap. Let rise in a warm place till doubled in size. 30 - 45 minutes
- 5. Make a 1" deep lengthwise slash in top of the loaf. Brush with egg white.
- 6. BAke 30 - 35 minutes until loaf sounds hollow when tapped lightly.
