Koulourakia(Easter Cookies)
- 5 c. sifted flour
- 1 Tbsp. baking powder
- 1 c. butter
- 1 c. sugar
- 4 eggs
- 1 1/2 tsp. vanilla
- sesame seed
- Sift flour with baking powder.
- Set aside.
- In large bowl, beat at high speed the butter, sugar, 3 eggs and vanilla until light and fluffy.
- At low speed, add flour mixture gradually.
- Beat until combined.
- Shape a heaping teaspoonful of dough into a 6-inch long rope; fold in half and twist together with two turns.
- In small bowl, slightly beat remaining egg with one tablespoon water.
- Place sesame seed on waxed paper.
- Brush each cookie with beaten egg, then dip each, egg side down, into seed.
- Place on ungreased baking sheet.
- Preheat oven to 350u0b0.
- Bake 15 to 20 minutes or until firm. Makes about 5 dozen cookies.
