Baked Greek Beef Pattiesaunt Elizabeth'S Recipe
- 2 lbs. Lean Ground Round, or Chuck
- 1 egg
- 2 slices, dry bread crumbs
- 1 medium onion, fine chopped
- 4 cloves of garlic, finely chopped
- 1/3 cup Fresh Peppermint leaves, finely chopped
- 1 tsp. salt
- 1 tsp. pepper
- 1 1/2 tsp. ground cinnamon
- 1/4 cup dry Red Burgundy wine
- 1 1/2 Tbsp. olive oil
- 3 Tbsp. Hunt's tomato sauce
- Mix all ingredients together and shape into 1/4 inch thick round patties (about 14 or 15 patties).Place in two 9 X 13 inch baking pans.
- Do not use aluminum pans.
- Bake for 35 minutes at 350u0b0.
- Mix together ingredients for tomato sauce using 4 large cans of Hunt's tomato sauce, 2/3 cup of dry Burgundy wine, about 30 peppermint leaves finely chopped, 3 Tbsp. of olive oil and salt and pepper to taste.
- Pour over patties in baking dish and bake for 35 minutes longer.
- Serve patties and sauce over spaghetti or linguini, topped with grated Parmesan cheese. Serve with green salad, greek black olives and garlic bread.
