Glazed Nuts
- 1/2 cup white wine or water
- 4 egg whites, lightly beaten
- 2 cups sugar
- 2 tsp. salt
- 3 tsp. ground spices (see variations)
- suggestion:
- Almonds- 8 cups of almonds and 3 tspn Cinnamon
- Pecans - 8 cups pecan, 2 tspn ground cinnamon and 1 tspn. ground ginger
- Walnuts - 8 cups walnuts, 1 tspn cinnamon, 1 tspm ground nutmeg, 1/4 tspn ground clove, 1/4 tspn ground allspice and 1/2 tspn ground ginger.
- heat over to 250, spray cooksheet with non-stick spray
- In large bowl combine wine (water) egg whites sugar and salt and whisk until blended.
- Add nuts and spices, toss to coat thoroughly. Spread nuts on cookie sheet, bake 1 hr or until browned and dry - stir occationally to prevent sticking. Cool and store in airtight containers at room temperature.
