Chocolate Syrup Cake
- Cake:
- 1/2 cup (1 stick) room temp butter
- 3/4 cp sugar
- 4 eggs
- 1 cup all purpose flour
- 1 tsp baking powder
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 1, 16oz can chocolate syrup
- 1 Tbsp vanilla
- Topping:
- 1/2 cup butter (no substitute)
- 3/4 cup sugar
- 1/3 cup evaporated milk
- 1/2 cup chocolate chips
- Preheat oven to 350u0b0
- Cake:
- In a large bowl cream together butter, sugar and eggs with mixer. Add chocolate syrup and vanilla. In a separate bowl mix dry ingredients together; flour, baking powder and salt. Add dry ingredients to wet and beat well.
- Pour batter into greased and floured 3 quart baking pan (9x13"). Bake for 30 min.
- Topping: (begin preparing about 10 min before cake is done.)
- In a saucepan bring butter, sugar and milk to a rolling boil (stir only once). Remove from heat and stir in the chocolate chips until melted and smooth--no lumps. Gently pour over hot cake. Let the liquid topping spread and settle. It will harden to a shiny smooth surface.
