Soft Molasses Cookies
- 3/4 c. shortening
- 2 c. brown sugar
- 3 eggs
- 3/4 c. dark molasses
- 2 tsp. baking soda
- 1 tsp. salt
- 1/4 c. sour cream
- 5 1/2 c. all-purpose flour (about)
- 2 tsp. cinnamon
- 1 tsp. ginger
- 1 c. sugar
- 1 c. lard
- 1 c. molasses
- 2 c. flour
- 1 tsp. ginger
- 2 tsp. soda
- 1/2 tsp. cloves
- 1/4 tsp. salt
- 1 c. cold water
- 1 to 1 1/2 c. flour
- Cream the sugar and lard.
- Add the molasses; mix.
- Add the 2 cups of flour, ginger, soda, cloves and salt alternately with the cold water.
- Add up to 1 to 1 1/2 cups more flour (still enough to handle).
- Roll in walnut size; dip in sugar.
- Bake in moderate oven for 8 to 10 minutes.
