Soft Molasses Cookies

  1. Cream the sugar and lard.
  2. Add the molasses; mix.
  3. Add the 2 cups of flour, ginger, soda, cloves and salt alternately with the cold water.
  4. Add up to 1 to 1 1/2 cups more flour (still enough to handle).
  5. Roll in walnut size; dip in sugar.
  6. Bake in moderate oven for 8 to 10 minutes.
