Ham Delights
- 2 sticks butter, melted
- 2 T poppy seeds
- 6 T mustard
- 1 T dried onion flakes
- 2.5 lb. shaved ham
- Use sugar cured (not salt cured) ham - people at the deli will understand the word shaved.
- 16 oz. Swiss cheese slices
- 48 Arnolds brand (24/pkg) soft rolls about the size of two bites, sliced but still connected in a pan or package. If you can't find Arnolds, any other similar white roll will do.
- Mix first four ingredients and cover the inside of the sliced rolls with a pastry brush. This is easy if you slice the entire package of rolls and lift off the tops and coat the top of the bottom of the roll with the mustard mixture.
- Spread the ham evenly over the rolls and top with cheese.
- Put the top of the rolls back in place - trying to keep them above their original bottom.
- Heat at 350 degrees until cheese has melted - about 15 min.
- Slice around each roll to form individual sandwiches. Don't underestimate how long it will take to cut the sandwiches once out of the oven (and they will be hot).
