Farm Fresh Apple Crisp
- 8-10 McIntosh Apples
- 3/4 cup sugar
- 3/4 tsp cinnamon
- 3 tsp lemon juice
- Topping:
- 1 and 1/8 Cup flour
- another 3/4 cup sugar
- 9 Tablespoons of butter
- pinch of salt (not much if you are using salted butter)
- 3/8 Cup chopped walnuts (I like more)
- 1) Pre-heat oven to 350 degrees
- 2) Peel, core and slice apples into a bowl. Toss with sugar, cinnamon and lemon juice. Put into 10" buttered pie plate. Use spatula to transfer all of the sugar and juice.
- 3) Blend flour, sugar, butter and salt until crumbly. I use a pastry blender. A fork works too. add nuts and mix. Pat onto apples. Bake 45 minutes-1 hour on a pan or pie server so that if the juices run the don't get on to the oven. It may take longer than an hour--you are looking for the apples to be soft and t he topping to be nicely brown.
