Christmas Sausage Egg Bake
- 18-20 Hard boiled Eggs
- 1 lb sausage cooked and crumbled
- Sauce:
- 6T butter melted in a pan
- 3-4 T cornstarch or 1/3 cup flour
- 1/2 tsp pepper
- 1/2 - 1 tsp onion salt
- 1 1/2 T minced onion (dried)
- 3/4 tsp dry mustard
- 1/8 tsp soy sauce (couple dashes)
- 3 cups milk
- 12 ounces shredded cheese
- Velveeta cheese
- In a medium saucepan over medium heat, melt butter. Add cornstarch (or flour) & seasonings and stir until the butter, seasonings, and flour are well combined. Lower heat if it is getting too hot. Pour in milk slowly, stirring constantly as it thickens. When thickened, add cheese. Taste to see if the seasonings are right. The sausage is salty, so you don't need the sauce to be overly salty.
- Place sausage into a 9 x 13 pan. Slice eggs and place over the sausage. Pour sauce over the eggs.
- Bake at 350 degrees for 30-40 minutes.
