Sugar Coated Chocolate Chocolate Chip Cookies
- 1 1/2 cups of ap flour
- 1 cup chocolate chips
- 3/4 cup white sugar
- 1/2 cup dark brown sugar
- 1/2 cup turbinado sugar
- 1/3 cup cocoa
- 1/4 cup molasses
- 1 stick of butter or 1/2 stick of shortning plus 1 Tbl water
- 1 egg
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1/2 tsp baking powder
- 1/2 tsp baking soda
- 1/2 tsp salt
- Pre heat oven to 375
- Cream together in your mixer bowl the white sugar, brown sugar the fat of your choice (the water if needed), and the molasses. Be sure to cream these until it is very light and airy. Add the egg and vanilla, continue creaming for one minute.
- Sift together in a seperate bowl all the dry ingredients except the chips and the turbinado sugar.
- gradually add the dry to the wet and when completly combined continue beating for 2 1/2 minutes.
- Add the chips and beat an additional 1/2 minutes.
- In a small bowl place the turbinado sugar.
- Scoop the cookie dough out in 1/4 cup units a few at a time and place in the sugar bowl.
- Roll around to coat and then form into a ball and space 2 inches apart on a cookie
- sheet .
- Bake for 13 minutes. Cookies are done when small cracks appear on the top side.
- Remove from the oven and let cool for 3-4 minutes then remove them from the cookie sheet and place the cookies on a cooling rack.
- Enjoy.
