Grampa'S Gingies
- 4 Tablespoons Crisco
- 3/4 cup brown sugar, packed
- 3/4 cup molasses
- 1/4 cup cold water
- 3 cups flour
- 1/2 teaspoon allspice
- 1/2 teaspoon ginger
- 1/2 teaspoon cloves
- 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1 1/2 Tablespoons cold water
- In a food processor, cream crisco, add sugar gradually and cream thoroughly. Blend in mollases.
- Sift flour with spices and salt. Stir 1/2 into molasses mixture alternating with the 1/4 cup water. Mix last of flour in by hand.
- Dissolve baking soda in 1 1/2 Tablespoons water and blend in dough.
- Chill dough, then roll out 1/2 inch thick on lightly floured board. Form "Gingies" with 2 1/2 inch cookie cutter.
- Place gingies far apart on greased baking sheet. Bake 15-18 minutes in a moderate (350) oven. Do not overbake. Frost, serve, enjoy!
