Fruit Cake Cookies
- 1/2 lb. candied pineapple
- 1 lb. candied cherries
- 1 lb. pitted dates
- 3 Tbsp. flour
- 4 c. pecan pieces
- 1/4 c. butter
- 1/2 c. brown sugar packed
- 2 eggs
- 1 1/2 c. all-purpose flour
- 1 1/2 tsp. soda
- 1/4 tsp. cloves
- 1/4 tsp. allspice
- 1/2 tsp. cinnamon
- 1/4 tsp. nutmeg
- 1 Tbsp. milk
- 4 Tbsp. orange juice
- Cut fruit into medium-sized pieces.
- Sprinkle lightly with flour and toss to coat fruit.
- Add pecans and mix well.
- Cream butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
- Add eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition.
- Sift flour, measure, sift again with soda and spices.
- Add to creamed mixture alternately with milk and orange juice.
- Stir in fruits and pecans, mixing well.
- Drop by teaspoons onto greased and floured baking sheet.
- For more colorful cookies, you may want to top with half a red or green cherry.
- Bake in 350u0b0 oven for 15 minutes.
- Makes about 9 dozen cookies.
