Virtue Cider Michigan Apple Sugar Cookies
- 2 cups All-Purpose Flour
- 1/4 teaspoon Salt
- 1/2 cup Butter, Unsalted
- 1 Egg
- 1 cup Sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon Baking Powder
- 1.5 teaspoon Brandy
- 1 tablespoon Virtue Cider "The Mitten"
- 1/2 teaspoon Vanilla Extract
- 1/2 teaspoon Cinnamon
- 3 ounces Egg Whites
- 1 teaspoon Vanilla Extract
- 1 teaspoon Virtue Cider Michigan Apple
- 4 cups Confectioner's Sugar
- 3 drops Red, Green, and Brown Food Coloring
- 1 Assorted Sprinkles
- For the sugar cookie,sift flour, salt, cinnamon, baking powder and set aside
- Cream butter and sugar with an electric mixer until light and fluffy; with mixer running, add egg, brandy, Virtue Cider The Mitten and vanilla; mix until combined
- With mixer on low, slowly incorporate flour mixture
- Transfer dough to a clean surface; working until mixture is combined and not super crumbly. Add water if needed
- Shape dough into two disks, cover with plastic and chill for an hour minimum
- Preheat oven to 350 F; line baking sheets with parchment or a non-stick mat
- On a lightly floured surface, roll out dough to 1/8" thickness and cut into apple shapes with a cookie cutter
- Bake 8-10 minutes or until edges are lightly browned; transfer cookies to wire racks to cool
- To create the royal icing, beat egg whites, Virtue Cider Michigan Apple and vanilla in a large bowl with an electric mixer until egg whites become frothy
- Slowly incorporate sugar on a low speed until fully added and mixture is shiny
- Turn speed to high and beat until mixture forms stiff, glossy peaks (5-7 minutes)
- Separate into three bowls and add food coloring
- Ice cooled cookies and add sprinkles; dry before enjoying
