Grandpa MarvinS Turkey Stuffing
- 1 large onion - chopped
- 5 stalks celery - chopped
- 1# mushrooms - sliced
- butter
- 1 stale loaf of challah
- sage, dill, celery salt, salt, pepper , garlic salt
- 1 egg
- 1# cooked chestnuts
- Tear challah into small pieces and set out until stale.
- Saute onions, celery and mushrooms in butter.
- Sprinkle a little water onto stale bread and squeeze it out.
- Add vegetables to bread and mix thoroughly.
- Add seasonings (spices) and cooked and chopped chestnuts.
- Stir again and taste for seasonings.
- Add egg and mix through.
- Stuff loosely in bird or bake separately in casserole w/ necks.
- Roast stuffed bird immediately. DO NOT stuff night before!
