Ribbon Cookies
- 1 cup Butter
- 1 1/4 cup Sugar
- 1 Egg, beaten
- 1 teasppon Vanilla
- 2 1/2 cups Sifted flour
- 1 1/2 teaspoon Baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon Salt
- 1/4 cup Candied cherries, cut in small pieces
- 2oz.(squares) Unsweetened chocolate
- 1/4 cup Chopped pecans or walnuts
- 2 tablespoons Poppy seed
- 1. Cream the butter. Add sugar gradually.
- 2. Add well beaten egg and vanilla.
- 3. Sift flour, baking powder and salt. Add to creamed mixture. Mix well.
- 4. Divide the dough into three parts.
- 5. Add cherries to one part, chocolate and nuts to another, and poppy seed to the third part.
- 6. Place the dough with cherries on botton, then the chocolate nut mixture next, then poppy seed mixture last. Wrap in wax paper,and place on cookie sheet. Set in refrigerator over night.
- 7. Cut into 1/4" slices. Bake on ungreased cookie sheet @ 375' for 10-12 minutes. Check after 6 minutes.
