Chocolate Caramel Brownies
- 1 (14 oz.) pkg. caramels
- 1/3 c. evaporated milk
- 1 pkg. German chocolate cake mix
- 3/4 c. (1 1/2 sticks) butter or margarine, melted
- 1/3 c. evaporated milk
- 1 (6 oz.) pkg. semi-sweet chocolate chips
- Preheat oven to 350u0b0.
- In heavy saucepan, combine caramels and 1/3 cup evaporated milk.
- Heat and stir until melted.
- Set aside. In a large mixing bowl, combine cake mix, butter and 1/3 cup evaporated milk.
- Mix by hand until moistened.
- Press half of this mixture on bottom of a greased and floured 9 x 13-inch pan.
- Bake 6 minutes.
- Sprinkle chocolate chips over baked crust; drizzle with melted caramels and crumble remaining cake mix mixture over all. Return to oven and bake an additional 15 to 18 minutes.
- Cool in refrigerator 30 minutes before cutting into bars.
