Christmas Trees
- 1 cup butter
- 3/4 cup sugar
- 1 egg
- 2 1/4 cups flour
- 1/8 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon baking powder
- 1 1/2 teaspoons mint extract
- green food coloring
- preheat oven to 400u0b0
- whisk flour salt and baking powder in a bowl.
- Cream butter and sugar well, add egg, flour mixture and mint extract. When all incorporated add food coloring a little at a time until you are pleased with the shade of green.
- Place dough into a cookie press with the tree disc and press out on a cookie sheet. If dough is too soft, refrigerate for an hour or so until able to hold the shape from the press.
- Sprinkle with green sugar.
- Bake 10 to 12 minutes until edges are just minutely brown.
- Cool on wire rack and keep in a sealed container. Will keep in a cool place for weeks.
- I like to melt white chocolate and drizzle over baked cookie.
- More mint can be added to the chocolate or sometimes mint green melties can be purchased in baking section of hobby stores.
- Number of cookies depends on thickness of press, do not make them too thick.
