Sweet And Sour Meatballs
- Meatablls:
- 1 pound ground beef
- 1 egg beaten
- 2 tablespoons flour
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 tablespoon dried or 2-3 tablespoons fresh onion
- Pepper
- Oil
- Sauce:
- 2 green peppers cut in strips
- Oil
- 2 1/2 cups chicken consumme
- 1/2 cup vinegar
- 1/2 cup sugar
- Soy sauce
- Corn Starch
- 2 tomatoes cut in wedges
- 1 can pineapple chunks, drained
- Comtine beef and egg, add remaining meatball ingredients except oil. Form into 1 inch meatballs, brown in hot oil. Drain on paper towels. Chicken, beef, or pork chunks may be used in place of the ground beef.
- Saute one-half the pepper strips in oil until tender. Add sonsumme, vinegar, sugar, and enough soy sauce to color dark brown. Thicken with corn starch mixed to a smooth paste with a little water. Bring to a boil; add tomatoes and pineapple, simmer for five minutes. Stir in remaining pepper and add to meat.
