Black Walnut Cake

  1. Sift
  2. the
  3. flour,
  4. baking
  5. powder
  6. and salt; set aside. Cream together
  7. the
  8. fattnd flavors, gradually add the 1 1/2 cups sugar,
  9. beat
  10. until light and fluffy.
  11. Add the egg yolks. Beat well.
  12. Addthe
  13. sifted dry ingredients alternately with the milk. Beat
  14. until
  15. smooth after each addition ending with flour.
  16. Beat the
  17. egg whites until frothy; add 1/4 cup sugar. Make a
  18. glossy (not dry) meringue. Fold into batter with nuts. Pour in 2 (9-inch) greased and floured pans.
  19. Bake at 350u0b0 for 45 minutes.
