Maple Biscuits

  1. Preheat oven to 375u0b0.
  2. Combine brown sugar, sour cream, egg, and maple flavor in a medium bowl; set aside.
  3. In a large bowl stir together flour, baking powder, baking soda, allspice, and salt.
  4. Using a pastry blender or two knives, cut in butter until mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  5. Make a well in the center of the flour mixture; stir in sour cream mixture until moistened.
  6. Turn dough out onto a floured surface.
  7. Quickly knead dough by gently folding and pressing dough for 10 to 12 strokes or until nearly smooth.
  8. Pat dough to 1-inch thickness.
  9. Using a floured 2-inch biscuit cutter, cut out the dough.
  10. Place 1 inch apart on an ungreased baking sheet.
  11. Bake 13 to 15 minutes or until bottoms are brown and sides are firm.
  12. Remove from baking sheet.
