Maple Biscuits
- 3/4 c. packed dark brown sugar
- 1/2 c. dairy sour cream
- 1 egg
- 1 tsp. maple flavor
- 2 1/2 c. all-purpose flour
- 1 Tbsp. baking powder
- 1/2 tsp. baking soda
- 1/2 tsp. ground allspice
- 1/8 tsp. salt
- 1/4 c. butter
- Preheat oven to 375u0b0.
- Combine brown sugar, sour cream, egg, and maple flavor in a medium bowl; set aside.
- In a large bowl stir together flour, baking powder, baking soda, allspice, and salt.
- Using a pastry blender or two knives, cut in butter until mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
- Make a well in the center of the flour mixture; stir in sour cream mixture until moistened.
- Turn dough out onto a floured surface.
- Quickly knead dough by gently folding and pressing dough for 10 to 12 strokes or until nearly smooth.
- Pat dough to 1-inch thickness.
- Using a floured 2-inch biscuit cutter, cut out the dough.
- Place 1 inch apart on an ungreased baking sheet.
- Bake 13 to 15 minutes or until bottoms are brown and sides are firm.
- Remove from baking sheet.
